I. Educational Objectives

To meet the urgent need by enterprises, executive branches of government and research institutions in international shipping and comprehensive logistics domain, this major is aimed at cultivating senior shipping management talents in hot demand at present who are proficient in international shipping business, international shipping management, acquainted with international trade and international transportation practice, excellent in English and be able to work overseas independently.

II. Education Requirements

The students of this major shall, on the basis of acquiring the basic principle of  management, computer science and laws, go further into the courses like shipping management, shipping business and relevant laws and regulations, multimodal transport, supply chain management. Students shall also acknowledge how shipping industry operates and its development trend, accepting basic training on enterprise management skills.

Upon graduation, students are expected

1. to master principles of management and  basic theory of modern enterprise management and  basic computer knowledge as well as application ability;

2. to acquire the qualitative and quantitive analyzing methods in international shipping and logistics enterprise management;

3. to know shipping business and relevant regulations, be proficient in practice in international trade, international shipping policy, practice of  international shipping operation and international conventions;

4. to acknowledge the theoretical fronts and development trends of this specialty;

5. to have a good command of basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing; be qualified to engage in international shipping management and  the  relevant work;

6. to have a good command of knowledge about document retrieval and data query so as to possess the basic abilities in scientific research and practical work。

Length of Schooling: 4 years

Academic Credits Required: 159 credits plus 49 credits for minor courses in English (including 20 credits converted from College English)

Degrees Conferred: Bachelor of Management

IV. Curriculum and Credit Distribution

1. General Education Courses (34 credits)

Requirements: 24 credits for compulsory courses;10 credits for elective courses 

2.Basic Disciplinary Courses (40 credits)

    Requirements: the total of 40 credits for basic courses in the Discipline.

3. Specialty-Oriented  Courses(56 credits)

Requirements: 40 credits for compulsory specialty-oriented courses; 16 credits for elective specialty-oriented courses.

4. Optional Courses(6 credits)

Requirements: 6 credits.

5. Second Class(Extracurricular Activities)(3 credits)

Requirements: 3 credits

6. Minor Courses in English(49 credits)
