I. Educational Objectives

  This program develops talents who will be suited to the needs of China’s socialist modernization drive with all-round development in morality, intellect and physique, and with a solid foundation of basic theory, wide range of knowledge, practical ability and comprehensive quality. Students will be engaged in marine administrative management in compliance with national requirements for sea rights defence and law enforcement.

II. Education Requirements

Students of this major are supposed to master the basic theoretical knowledge of sea rights defence and law enforcement, receive quasi-military training on a variety of marine technology, and be equipped with rudimentary abilities of independent marine management and law enforcement.  

Upon graduation, students are required

1. To have knowledge of humanitiesmilitary sense and professional ethics;

2. To have a solid ground in the basic theories of natural science required in this discipline;

3. To master systemically the basic theories of the specialty, marine laws and regulations, marine management and related knowledge required;

4. to have good practical ability and essential navigational techniques;

5. to have good English proficiency, with the certificate of CET 4 or above;

6. to have good computer application, information retrieval and processing ability;

7. to know about the new technologies, new methods and development of marine management technics;

8. to have strong adaptability at work, qualified not only for oceanographic survey and marine stewardship on public service ship,but also for marine management and environmental protection work onshore, offshore and on the island;

IV. Curriculum and Credit Distribution

1. General Education Courses (54 credits)

Requirements: 44 credits for compulsory courses;10 credits for elective courses  

2. Basic Disciplinary Courses courses (41 credits)

  Requirements: the total of 41 credits for basic courses in the Discipline.

3. Specialty-Oriented  Courses(56 credits)

Requirements: 40 credits for compulsory coursesincluding practical teaching links and graduation project;16 credits for elective courses.

4. Optional Courses(6 credits)

Requirements: 6 credits.
