I. Educational Objectives
The major is aimed at producing senior engineering talents and technical personnel who have a good knowledge of the basic theories of engineering (mainly Engineering Mathematics and Mechanics), Computer Application Technology, the essential skills of transport engineering including transportation systems analysis, regional traffic planning, urban transportation, port transportation planning and design, as well as traffic control and management and who are qualified to work in these offices or bureaus such as the state or local administrative divisions in city planning, urban construction, transportation and communications, municipal affairs, transport operation and management, planning and design, engineering construction and supervision, port and logistics enterprise, transport consulting agencies specializing in transport planning and design, construction, operation and management, as well as traffic impact analysis.
II. Education Requirements
Students who have completed program learning are expected
1. to build up a solid foundation of the knowledge about natural science, humanities and social sciences, and to be able to use a foreign language with ease;
2. to master the basic knowledge and theories of Engineering Mathematics and Mechanics,Metrology, Computer Application, etc..
3. to master the basic knowledge and theories of Systems Analysis, Urban Planning Principles, and Engineering Economics;
4. to master the basic knowledge and theories of Traffic Engineering, and acquire the abilities of the application, development and research of the transport engineering science and technology;
5. to possess the comprehensive abilities of analysizing the transportation systems with the basic knowledge, theories, methods and skills involved, competent in designing and managing a safe, smooth, and economical transportation;
6. to grasp the basic knowledge and abilities of working in the divisions of transport infrastructure construction (such as roads, bridges, ports and traffic junctions), apart from dealing with the transport planning, designing, constructing as well as operating;
7. to be familiar with the guiding principles, policies, and regulations concerning transportation and communications;
8. to be able to read foreign books and journals related to the transportation major;
9. to have a strong sense of autonomy learning and initiative spirit.

Length of Schooling: 4 years
Academic Credits Required: 160 credits
Degrees Conferred: Bachelor of Engineering
IV. Curriculum and Credits Distribution
1. General Education Courses: 54 credits
Requirements: 44 credits for the compulsory courses and 10 credits for the elective courses
2. Basic Courses in the Discipline: 41 credits (at least 40 credits)
3. Specialty-oriented Courses: 51 credits
Requirements: (including 40 credits for the required courses and 16 for the elective courses)
4. Optional Courses: 6 credits (No less than 6 credits)
Second Class(Extracurricular Activities): 3 credits (No less than 3 credits)
