I. Educational Objectives

The major is one of the specialties of Economics of our university. This program aims at developing senior specialists who are equipped with good political awareness and ethical qualities, a solid foundation of theories and principles in international economics and financial trade as well as essential professional skills and abilities involved in the finance service, acquainted with current status and tendency of international economics and trade development and general rules and principles used in international trade.  Besides, this program also emphasizes students’ comprehensive knowledge about China’s foreign trade policies and regulations, socio-economic situations of major countries and regions, practical knowledge of foreign trade transportation, and the status quo and future trend of international shipping and logistics. Students are supposed to be competent in undertaking the commence activities with the good knowledge of computer science and technology and with the help of proficient English language and e-commence technology  so as to be able to work in foreign-related trade department, relevant enterprises and public institutions to do practical, managerial and research work in this field.

  


II. Education Requirements

This major gives prominence to international business environment and the demand of more talented people who have the interdisciplinary abilities to participate in multinational deals, with a global perspective of shipping and logistics. Students of this major are supposed to finish the basic courses in the discipline during the first 5 semesters and then the specialty-oriented courses during the left 3 semesters. Besides all the credits required for the basic courses and the specialty-oriented courses, students of each major are supposed to get extra credits from other courses related to Economics.

Students are supposed to master the basic theoretical knowledge of Economics, International Economics and International Trade; having a systematic thinking ability in Economics and Management Science; accepting basic training for international commence, foreign trade transportation. So that the students are equipped with solid analytical abilities in solving practical problems. 

Students who have completed program learning are expected

1. to have a systematic theoretical knowledge and analytical method of modern Economics, together with a strengthened awareness of scientific management;

2. to be informed of the theoretical fronts and development trends of this specialty with a profound knowledge of  international economics and trade and good professional skills;

3. to acknowledge the socio-economic situations of major countries and regions and their trade policy;

4. to be acquainted with the national guidelines, policies and regulations related to financial service;

5. to master the English language, and have the better abilities in listening, speaking, reading, writing and interpreting;

6. to be competent in computer and Internet-related application skills and expert in e-commerce business;

7. to have a good command of knowledge about document retrieval so as to possess the basic abilities in scientific research and practical work.

IV. Curriculum and Credit Distribution

1. General Education Courses (54 credits)

Requirements: 44 credits for compulsory courses;10 credits for elective courses 

2.Basic Disciplinary Courses (48 credits)

    Requirements: the total of 48 credits for basic courses in the Discipline.

3. Specialty-Oriented Courses(49 credits)

Requirements: 33 credits for compulsory specialty-oriented courses; 16 credits for elective specialty-oriented courses.

4. Optional Courses(6 credits)

Requirements: 6 credits.
