I. Educational Objectives
This program is designed to produce high level interdisciplinary professionals with strong science background and good command of English, proficient in the basic knowledge and skills of computer network engineering, capable of working in the research, design and planning, integration, development, teaching and management of computer network systems in organizations as well as research facilities, schools, businesses and governments.
II. Education Requirement
The graduates are expected to master the basic theories and knowledge of computer science and technology, network and data communications, have the basic training of computer network research and application, and are capable of computer network research and development.
Upon graduation, students should be equipped with knowledge and abilities of the following aspects:
1. Proficiency in the basic knowledge and skills of computer hardware, software and computer application, and understanding of the features and requirement of computer application systems;
2. Familiarity with basic theories of computer network technology and data communications, expertise in various types of network protocols, deftness in theory and operation of mainstream network devices, capability of performing technical jobs such as network design and performance analysis, the operation, and management of networks, and network security;
3. Practical training in the design, development and application of computer software, hardware and networking technologies;
4. Expertise of the field, and capability of recognizing the trend of the industry;
5. Higher adaptability at work, and capability of performing practical work concerning scientific research, technological development, organization and management;
6. Breadth of professional knowledge, and ability to read and write professional literature in English;
7. Mastery of basic methods of literature search and data query, and capability of preliminary scientific research, practical engineering and innovation.

IV. Curriculum and Credit Distribution
1. General Education Courses (48.5 credits)
Requirements: 38.5credits for compulsory courses;10 credits for elective courses (2 credits for each of the following five major categories of economics, management, laws, humanities and the arts, literature and language)
2.Basic Disciplinary Courses (43 credits)
Requirements: the total of 43 credits for basic courses in the Discipline.
3. Specialty-Oriented Courses(58.5 credits)
Requirements: 42.5 credits for compulsory specialty-oriented courses; 16 credits for elective specialty-oriented courses.
