I. Educational Objectives


This program is aimed at training higher level professionals with a firm grasp of the basic theories, knowledge and methodology of mathematics, capable of using mathematics and computer skills in the resolution of real problems, and equipped to carry out responsibilities such as research and teaching of software engineering and data analysis in government organizations, financial institutions, libraries and other information systems, industrial departments, schools, the military, research organizations, and traffic sector, shipping companies in particular; or capable of pursuing further education and training.


II. Education Requirements


Upon graduation, students are supposed to acquire knowledge and abilities listed as follows:


1. Patriotism,loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party and supportive of the Reform and Opening Up. Combine theory with practice. Diligent and innovative in the pursuit of truth and science, and a sense of mission in serving socialist modernization;


2. Mastery of the basic theory and method of mathematics and applied mathematics, and through training in mathematical thinking;


3. Systematic training in mathematical modeling;


4. Possession of basic skills to engage in the teaching of mathematics, mathematics education research, mathematics science research and practical application of mathematics;


5. Mastery of the basic theory of computer science and technology, and the basic ability of research and development of computer software;


6. Fair command of a foreign language, and proficient in reading of mathematics related foreign literature;


7. Mastery of the basic methods of literature search, data query, and the ability to access information.

1. General Education Courses (51 credits)


Requirements: 41 credits for compulsory courses;10 credits for elective courses 


2.Basic Disciplinary Courses (41 credits)


   Requirements: the total of 41 credits for basic courses in the discipline.


3. Specialty-Oriented  Courses(58 credits)


Requirements: 39 credits for compulsory specialty-oriented courses; 19 credits for elective specialty-oriented courses.


4. Optional Courses(6 credits)


Requirements: 6 credits.
